Hannah Griffin (Winter) is a graduate from the Bluefield College Women’s Volleyball team (2012-2016). A defensive specialist, Hannah was utilized as right side hitter, outside hitter, DS, and Libero during her four years with the program.
Her freshman year, she started and excelled, having a 96% serving percentage and being awarded Most Improved Player for the season. Her sophomore year, she was chosen as team captain, led the team with highest serving percentage, and totaled 15 kills and 31 digs in a single match. Her junior year, she was selected as the assistant coach for the Bluefield College Men’s Volleyball Team for their 2014-2015 season, especially involved in recruiting, analyzing the other team’s offense, and advising players in their defensive play. In her senior year, she finished her career with over 800 digs, 45 aces, 107 kills, and 800 serve receives.
Since graduating from Bluefield with academic honors for athletics, Hannah has coached for Phoenix Academy for 3 years and for Hurricane Volleyball Club for the last two years. She has also partnered with the Athletic Training Center to run volleyball training with emphasis on footwork and plyometric development, and she has run her own Volleyball Beast Training Summer Conditioning and Volleyball camps the last two years. Hannah is a teacher, and she is passionate about working with young adults in the classroom and on the court.
Coach Pat brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to our club as he started his volleyball career in the Air Force in 1975 as a middle blocker. Coach Pat has coached at every level from U12 through U18 in club, Middle School, High School, Men’s College Club and Adult. He has worked with USA Volleyball’s High Performance Program as Court Coach for Middles, Setters and Liberos, Evaluator for Setters and also Lead Tryout Coach for both girls and boys tryouts. He was selected as an Assistant Coach specializing in middles for the Girls Youth National A3 Training Program, the Girls Select National A3 Training Program and the Boys Future Select National Training Program. He set the ground work and helped implement the Evergreen Region’s High Performance Program and served as the Region’s Program Representative at their first USA High Performance Championship. He was the founder and Club Director of Out of System VBC in Spokane Washington, and he comes us from Albuquerque New Mexico where he was the Assistant Club Director and Master Coach for New Mexico Cactus VBC. His passion for the game and expertise will be a great addition to our club.
Jordyn Rosichan is a graduate from Central State University (NCAA Division II in Ohio), where she played in 2017 as a rightside hitter. Jordyn has always been a team player and brought “good vibes to the team”. She was one of the biggest team supporters and was very respected across the board. In Ohio, Jordyn has coaching experience as the head volleyball coach for Horizon Science Academy, and she also was an assistant coach for Stiver’s School of the Arts, all while attending college.
Jordyn was head volleyball coach for the 15’s Regional Flame at Miami Valley Phoenix after she graduated with her B.S. in Sustainable Agriculture. Jordyn is very passionate and knowledgeable about the game of volleyball, and she loves to teach other people about the game. HVC is glad to have Jordyn as a member of our coaching team.
Kayla gained collegiate experience playing volleyball for two years at South Suburban College as a middle blocker. Before that, she played club volleyball from 8th grade through 12th grade. She is most passionate about blocking, hyping up her team, and being a great communicator on the court!
Prior to moving to North Carolina, Kayla has club coaching experience with multiple age groups through Iliana Juniors a club in Chicago, Illinois. She is excited to join Hurricane Volleyball Club because she loves making kids better people and athletes!
Her favorite quote is “If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan- but never the goal.”
Hannah Tatum (Amis) is a graduate from the Bluefield College Women’s Volleyball team (2013-2017). A defensive specialist, Hannah has experience as right side hitter, setter, DS, and Libero during her four years with the program. Hannah was a consistent and dependable player on the team, providing a solid defense and reliable serves. Hannah was chosen as team captain her senior year.
Since graduating from Bluefield, Hannah went on to pursue her Masters from Redford University in Occupational Therapy. She is passionate about helping others recover and get back into what they want and need to do in their daily lives.
Coach Mike is local to the Greensboro/High Point area who has been heavily involved in the adult volleyball community for many years, playing indoors, grass volleyball, and beach!
Mike is excited to be able to work with young athletes and learn more about the game of volleyball. His passion and energy on and off the court are wonderful qualities that Hurricane Volleyball Club is happy to have in our coaches.
Coach Mike has coached two seasons with HVC in the 15s age group!
While pursuing a degree in biology, Alex Liu gained experience while being a member of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Men’s Club Volleyball team. Originally an outside, Alex also has experience as Libero, right side, and setter with his team at UNCG and at open tournaments.
Hurricane Volleyball Club was glad to bring Alex on to our coaching team! With his diverse coaching experience, his athleticism and his technical abilities make him a fantastic coach for HVC!
AJ was one of our athletes from our first graduating class who signed to play with Rockingham Community College! AJ brings experience as a right side and middle, along with having played eight years of club volleyball; she has spent time helping out as a coach during high school for Champion VBC in Winston and many hours volunteering to help our younger teams during practices throughout her 18 National season.
During her time playing for HVC, AJ’s energy, willingness to learn new things, and versatile strengths on the court made her a great teammate and leader, and now she is ready to share that with some of our younger athletes.
Daniel Griffin is a graduate from the Bluefield College Men’s Volleyball team (2014-2016). A rightside/outside hitter, Daniel was played every match the two years he played; he gained experience playing right side hitter, outside hitter, DS, and Libero during the program’s first two years.
Daniel was a four year player for the Bluefield College Football program, setting school records. Being a duel sport collegiate athlete gives him a diverse and well-rounded perspective as a coach! For volleyball, Daniel led the team with the highest serving percentage. At 6’3, Daniel was able to put up strong blocks at the net, but surprisingly, he also spent time as Libero as well. Daniel’s work ethic and leadership skills earned him the respect of his teammates, and he was chosen as captain his senior year.
Since graduating from Bluefield with academic honors for athletics, Daniel has coached for the Greensboro Panthers high-school football program the last 2 years. He also coached middle school baseball for Phoenix Academy. Additionally, Daniel has spent the last two years observing and keeping statistics for Hurricane Volleyball tournaments. Daniel is passionate about financial coaching and working with athletes.
